Fake Minecraft apps on Google Play Store make your Android phone ‘practically unusable’
ANDROID users have been put on alert about fake Minecraft apps found on the Google Play Store downloaded over a million times that make phones “practically unusable”.
Android users need to be aware of almost two dozen fake Minecraft apps that were housed on the Google Play Store which spam devices with full-screen ads. The offending Android apps were advertised as Minecraft modpacks, promising users a nifty way to customise the hugely popular building game just to their liking. However, as researchers from Kaspersky found, more than 20 of these Google Play Store apps were simply designed to display ads on Android smartphones and tablets in an “extremely intrusive manner”.
These apps have mixed reviews on the Google Play Store, with some of them having the entirely same product description – even down to individual typos.
