Germany demands, France follows! Backlash over decision to close ski lifts
France is allowing ski resorts to open in December but lifts will remain shut. It comes as Germany is pushing for European Union countries to keep slopes closed until next year in a bid to combat the spread of coronavirus.
Anti-EU movement Génération Frexit accused France of caving in to Germany’s demands in a post on Twitter.
The Génération Frexit account tweeted an article reporting that Germany is putting pressure on the EU to ban skiing holidays, along with an article about the announcement that ski lifts in France will be closed for Christmas.
It said: “On the left, what Germany demands in the morning.
“On the right, what France does at noon.”
