Huawei swapping Android for HarmonyOS in new beta programme next week
HUAWEI’S plans to replace Android with their home-made HarmonyOS kick up a gear next week when the P40 Pro and P30 Pro makers begin a major beta programme for the new OS.
Huawei in a few days time will launch their first HarmonyOS beta for mobile devices – giving a glimpse into the Android-free future P40 and P30 Pro users soon face. The Shenzhen-based tech giant has confirmed that on Tuesday December 16 the mobile build of Harmony OS beta 2.0 will get unveiled during the Huawei Developer Day (HDD) event. Huawei will also launch a new set of tools that developers will need to make apps for HarmonyOS.
And HarmonyOS is the most significant change, as Huawei devices will drop Android for this new mobile operating system in 2021.
