Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fires stern warning to Paul Pogba as transfer talk grows | Football | Sport

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted Paul Pogba has the correct attitude at Old Trafford. However, he’s also warned the Real Madrid and Juventus transfer target that nobody is bigger than the club. The France international is keen to leave the Red Devils behind for a new challenge elsewhere after nearly five underwhelming years.

Pogba wants to leave United, with Juventus currently favourites to sign the 2018 World Cup winner over Real Madrid.

But Solskjaer, speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League showdown with Leeds on Sunday, has insisted the player is focused.

While that’s the case, however, the Norwegian has fired a warning to the France international – insisting nobody is bigger than the club.

“Paul was here as a kid in the under-18s, we signed him early on, he comes with the Man United DNA in him,” he said.

“He knows what we are about. Man United is about being in a team. I would not stand for anyone thinking he is bigger than Man United because no-one is.

“Absolutely no-one is and Paul knows this. It is not only Paul, it is for all of us.

“Paul is unhappy at Manchester United, he can’t manage to express himself like he wants to and like people expect him to.

“He needs to change team, he needs a change of scenery.

“He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but the best solution for all parties is a transfer in the next window.

“Otherwise the Old Trafford club, which I have a great relationship with, knows well that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that at the moment it’s not the player’s intention to extend the contract.”

Solskjaer has insisted, however, that he’s not deterred from the club dealing with Raiola.

The Norwegian is understood to be keen on signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, despite being rebuffed by the 20-year-old back in January.

“I leave the negotiations with agents to the club. I rarely speak to agents” says Solskjaer.

“I speak to the players and that is the biggest thing for me. I need to see them eye to eye.

“That is my say on it really. I think it is important, the relationship between player and manager, it is like the old days.

“I want players who can handle life as well. You can’t just go through agents.”
