Manchester United hammed rivals Leeds 6-2 at Old Trafford with a brilliant performance which eases the pressure on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Scott McTominay shot out of the blocks to score twice in the opening three minutes. Bruno Fernandes also hit a double while Victor Lindelof and Dan James helped themselves to a goal. Express Sport takes a look at how each of the individual players fared.

Manchester United (4-3-3)

David de Gea – 6. Produced fine saves to twice deny Raphinha, but unable to keep out Cooper’s header.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7. As solid defensively as ever in front of the watching Gareth Southgate.

Victor Lindelof – 7. A bit casual early on, but improved thereafter and scored United’s fourth prior to half time.

Harry Maguire – 7. Very vocal, read the game well and was assured bringing the ball out from the back.

Luke Shaw – 7. His bursting run through the middle in the first-half was indicative of United’s industry. Mothballed after an hour.

Scott McTominay 9 – Two goals and two stunning finishes inside the first three minutes to set United on their way to victory.

Fred – 8. His lung-busting run through the middle made possible United’s third goal, scored by Fernandes.

Dan James – 7. Booked for diving in rare outing but made amends with beautiful control and strike for United’s fifth. .

Bruno Fernandes – 7. Provided the assist for McTominay’s early opener. Got on the scoresheet himself with United’s third and a penalty.

Marcus Rashford – 8. Caused panic in the Leeds defence whenever he was on the ball, with his quick feet and mind.

Anthony Martial – 8. Two assists and a constant threat up front with his clever movement, pace and link-up play.

Substitute: Shaw (Telles 60, 6), Rashford (Cavani 71, 6), Fernandes (van de Beek 71, 6)

Leeds United (4-1-4-1)

Illan Meslier – 5. Spent most of the afternoon picking the ball out of his net. Partially at fault for James’s goal.

Stuart Dallas – 6. Glorious goal but lucky to escape a first half booking for late challenge on Marcus Rashford.

Luke Ayling – 5. Embarrassed on more than one occasion by United’s pace and trickery rampaging forwards.

Liam Cooper – 7. Fine headed goal and made a couple of important defensive interventions in over-run Leeds defence.

Ezgjan Alioski – 5. Afternoon of struggle for the Leeds left-back with too much on his plate from United strikeforce.

Kalvin Phillips – 5. Knew more about the rivalry than most but the Leeds lad found himself overrun early on as the sole holding midfielder and hauled off at half time.

Mateusz Klich – 4. Quiet in possession. Failed to pick up Scott McTominay’s run for United’s second goal. Taken off at the break.

Raphinha – 6. Sweet left foot delivered precision corner for Cooper goal but lost possession for McTominay’s opening goal.

Rodrigo – 5. Emasculated by Manchester United midfield . Gave ball away cheaply for Fernandes goal.

Jack Harrison – 5. Blunted by the close attention of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Swapped wings but little luck with Luke Shaw either.

Patrick Bamford – 5. Wasted good chance when the game was still within range for Leeds. Scores a lot but misses plenty.

Substitutes – Klitch (Shackleton 40, 5), Struijk 40, 4), Cooper (Davis 71, 5)
