Spotify down: web player not working, leaving hundreds unable to stream music or podcasts

HUNDREDS of Spotify users are reporting problems with the web browser-based player for the streaming service, which can be used to listen to music and podcasts. Despite widespread reports of issues with the web player, the iOS and Android smartphone and tablet apps seems to be withstanding the ongoing outage.
