Useful upgrade will let you use an Echo without shouting ‘Alexa’ all the time
AMAZON’S Alexa assistant is an incredibly useful way to set timers, check the weather, switch on lights from your Echo speaker. But there are times when using your voice isn’t convenient, but thankfully, Amazon now has a solution to help out.
The Amazon Echo is an incredibly nifty gadget. Controlled by clever AI assistant Alexa, the smart speaker can handle albums, playlists and live radio – but that’s really just the tip of the iceberg. Alexa can also add items to your calendar, check your commute, read out the latest breaking news headlines and weather reports, order takeaways and taxis, switch on the lights and adjust the thermostat. To start a request, you only need to use the wake word “Alexa,” which acts as an on button – shaking the Echo awake from its slumber and ensuring its ready to handle your next request.
The user interface is really simple – it resembles texting a friend using an app like WhatsApp.
